The World’s Hovercraft Speed Record on September 18, 1995 which was held in Portugal was won by Bob Windt of the U.S. at 137.4 km / h or 85.87 mph. Windt former flight engineer at McDonnell Douglas, is the founder of Universal Hovercraft and regarded as “the godfather” of personal hovercraft by the Learning Channel “Junkyard Wars”.
