Tom Hanks was born on July 9, 1956 in Concord, California, USA. He was born as Thomas Jeffrey Hanks. His father, Amos Hanks was cook (died in 1992) and mother, Janet Turner was hospital worker. His parents were divorced in 1961. Tom Hanks has a sister and two brothers. His sister, Sandra Hanks (born on July 31, 1951) was a writer and brothers, Jim Hanks (born on June 15, 1961) is actor and Larry Hanks (born in 1953) is a professor.

In 1966, Tom Hanks attended both junior high and Skyline high school in Oakland. His interest includes space and sports, especially baseball. At Skyline High, he attended his first major league baseball game and discovered drama.

After graduation Tom Hanks attended Cabot College in nearby Hayward, California from 1974 to 1976. He was working as a sideline as a bellboy at the local Hilton. Doing the occasional drama class.

In 1980, Tom Hanks married with Samantha Lewes and divorced in 1987. Susan Dillingham is her real name. Together they have two Children named Colin Hanks (born on 1977) and Elizabeth Hanks (born on 1982). Samantha Lewes was died 12 March 2002 due to Cancer. In 1985, on the set of the movie "Volunteers", Tom Smith met actress Rita Wilson. He married with actress Rita Wilson on April 30, 1988. They together have two children, Truman Theodore (born on December 26, 1995) and Chester (born on August 4, 1990).

In 1980, Tom Hank's first movie, "He Knows You're Alone" (horror film) was released. Armand Mastroianni was the director of this movie and Scott Parker wrote story. In this movie, Tom Hanks played a role of Elliot. After that he was in so many movies including "Splash" (1984), "Bachelor Party" (1984), "The Man With One Red Shoe" (1985), "Volunteers" (1985), "The Money Pit" (1986), "Dragnet" (1987), etc.

In 1988, His movie, "Big" was released. It's a comedy movie. Penny Marshall was director of this movie. In this movie, Tom Hanks played a role of Josh Baskin. His performance for this movie is ranked #15 on Premiere Magazine's 100 Greatest Performances of All Time. For this movie, Tom Hanks received his first Oscar nomination. He also won Golden Globe award (best actor), American Comedy Award (Funniest Actor), Saturn Award (best actor), etc.
